It is with immense privilege, pride and pleasure that we announce to our Mossman School community that on the very last day of last term, Mossman State School was awarded one of the 35 Queensland Department of Education Showcase Awards for our improvement and achievement journey over the past 5 years. Our Showcase, entitled, From the Red Sea to the Blue-Green Sea, received the Network Ten Showcase Award for Excellence in the Early and Primary Years for Far North Queensland. This comes with a $1200 grant. We will now progress to be judged at the state level, with state finalists being announced on Monday, 31st July. State Finalists will receive a further $7500 grant and State Award Winners will receive a $30,000 grant. Each and every one of our teachers, teacher aides and support staff has had a huge role to play in the success of our school improvement agenda over the past 5 years and we were very proud to be able to showcase their efforts and achievements on their behalf. This is a testament to our staff’s moral imperative, dedication, hard work and willingness to adopt new and current teaching and learning practices. We would like to publicly acknowledge and thank each and every one of our staff members for all of their efforts and achievements and making a difference to the lives and future prospects of our students. We would also like to thank you, as parents, for supporting our school improvement agenda and ensuring that your children are at school every day so they can take full advantage of the valuable learning opportunities that our teachers create at our school every day. A big thank you and congratulations must also go to our students who have responded to our improvement agenda with enthusiasm and positivity. It is their school achievement results that have enabled us to be able to showcase our endeavours and be acknowledged as a regional champion.
