Girls Peninsula Rugby League Trials

22/07/2016
SPLISH! SPLOSH! WHACK!!!! It was a rainy, soggy day down in Cairns for the Peninsula Girls Rugby League trials. Our Douglas District team played 4 games against teams from as far away as Tully and the Torres Strait. We had a fantastic time running, tackling and scoring tries on the muddy, rain-soaked fields.
Wazan impressed the team selectors with her fearless and ferocious tackling of girls almost twice her size, and she was selected in the squad of 26 girls to try for final selection in the Peninsula team today. We wish her the best of luck.
Our trip was made even better on the way home when Tejay’s mum Tanya bought us all warm donuts and new socks because our old ones were soggy and soaked with orange mud. We also stopped at McDonalds for an ice-cream!! Thank you Mr Ryan and Mr Darryl for taking us down to the trials. It was an enjoyable day and totally worth feeling a bit sore and bruised today.
